Rain Cui, PhD, MBA

Rain Cui, PhD, MBA, is a Director at JCI Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Johnson Controls International. In this role, she leads startup investments across artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and smart building technologies, directing capital into companies such as Carbon Lighthouse, Alcatraz AI, and Magos Systems. Cui serves as a board member for Nevada Nanotech Systems following a 2015 investment, and she holds board observer seats at both Carbon Lighthouse and Alcatraz AI. Before joining JCI Ventures, she held positions at GE Ventures Healthcare, Virgin Pulse, and Trinity Partners, and she served as an adviser to the National Venture Capital Association from 2016 to 2018. She holds an MBA and a PhD in Biostatistics from Harvard University, anchoring her current professional focus on corporate venturing within the technology and industrial sectors.
