Ran Ding

Ran Ding is a General Partner and co-head of the Growth Equity team at Norwest Venture Partners, focusing on B2B investments. Before joining Norwest, he worked at Amazon Web Services, where he contributed to SageMaker and led the development of Amazon Kendra. His earlier career includes co-founding a silicon photonics startup later rebranded as Elenion, alongside serving as an analyst at Citigroup and Union Square Advisors. Ding currently holds board director positions at eight companies, including YipitData and Cority, and has managed investments involving major firms like Carlyle and Thoma Bravo. He earned a BS from Cornell University and a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Washington, holding nine US patents and authoring over 80 peer-reviewed papers. His current focus centers on growth equity investments across the software, data, and business services sectors.
