Richard Laxer is an investor and veteran finance executive who previously spent over three decades operating within global financial services. He began his corporate career in 1984 by joining the Financial Management Program at General Electric, eventually dedicating 34 years to GE Capital. Laxer served as the president and chief executive officer of GE Capital International starting in 2009, overseeing major global business operations and strategic initiatives. On September 1, 2016, during the tenure of chief executive Jeff Immelt, Laxer was appointed president and CEO of the entire GE Capital organization, succeeding Keith S. Sherin. He ultimately retired from his dual roles as chairman and chief executive officer of the institution in 2018.
