Richard Lui

Richard Lui is a Partner at Next47 based in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he focuses on investments in enterprise technology, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. Before joining the global venture firm in January 2023, he served as a Principal at Sapphire Ventures from 2018 to 2022 and previously held investment roles at Greylock Partners. Throughout his extensive venture capital career, Lui has backed prominent infrastructure and developer tools startups, including Snyk, Cockroach Labs, and Hex. He currently manages an active investment portfolio of more than 20 technology companies and recently led Next47's $50 million Series B investment in an AI observability platform in March 2025. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University, Lui maintains a primary investment focus on scaling early-stage to growth-stage enterprise software and cloud infrastructure startups.
