Richard D. Segal is an investor, philanthropist, and the founder and former Chairman of Rethink Capital Partners and Seavest Investment Group, based in West Harrison, New York. He established Seavest in 1981 to focus on real estate and medical facilities before launching its venture capital arm, Rethink VC, in 2012. Under his leadership, Rethink Capital Partners grew to manage over $2.5 billion in assets under management across education, healthcare, and environmental sustainability sectors. Segal has served on the corporate boards of several successful technology companies, including SchoolNet, which was acquired by Pearson for $230 million, Wireless Generation, which sold to NewsCorp for $400 million, and Smarterer, which was acquired by Pluralsight. Following his departure from Rethink in April 2022, his professional career remains defined by a four-decade focus on impact investing and scaling early-stage technology ventures.
