Richard Wintsch

Richard Wintsch is the Executive Director of Startup Virginia and Director of VentureSouth Virginia, operating out of Richmond, Virginia. Originally from Geneva, Switzerland, he attended James Madison University before building a career that includes experience in private banking and a tenure at ChamberRVA. In his current capacity, he manages a regional node of the VentureSouth network, which comprises 21 angel investment groups across the Southeast United States. Working alongside figures like VentureSouth Managing Director Charlie Banks, Wintsch has facilitated early-stage capital allocations into several local technology startups across the region. His contributions to the regional economy recently earned him formal recognition on the Virginia Business list of 100 People to Meet in 2024. Wintsch maintains a primary focus on advancing entrepreneurial ecosystem development and structuring early-stage venture investments throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern markets.
