Robert Berendes

Robert Berendes is an Executive Partner at Flagship Pioneering and serves as Chairman of the Board for Indigo Agriculture and Invaio. Previously, he spent over seven years on the executive team at Syngenta International, directing Global Business Development and Research and Development. During his tenure at Syngenta, Berendes executed more than 30 corporate acquisitions and established the organization's corporate venture capital group. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Partner at McKinsey & Company advising chemical and industrial clients, following an initial role at Procter & Gamble. In 2022, he was recognized as Flagship Pioneering's Leader of the Year after Indigo Agriculture generated its first scaled crop of agricultural carbon credits. His current focus centers on advancing sustainable agricultural technology, food systems innovation, and climate mitigation strategies through venture capital and corporate leadership.
