Robert Nelsen

Robert Nelsen is a co-founder and Managing Director at ARCH Venture Partners, based in Chicago, Illinois. Since the firm's 1986 inception, he has driven the creation, financing, and development of over 150 early-stage companies across biotechnology, genomics, and artificial intelligence. His portfolio includes more than 50 investments exceeding a $1 billion valuation, featuring notable exits like Juno Therapeutics' $11.9 billion sale to Celgene and GRAIL's $10 billion acquisition by Illumina. Nelsen currently serves as a board director for several prominent healthcare enterprises, including Vir Biotechnology, Sana Biotechnology, and Xaira Therapeutics. He holds a BS in economics and biology from the University of Puget Sound and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His current focus remains on partnering with entrepreneurs to commercialize disruptive platform technologies that advance medical innovation.
