Rodger Novak is the President and Chair of CRISPR Therapeutics, while also serving as a Venture Partner at SR One and Chairman of Xap Therapeutics. Before co-founding CRISPR Therapeutics in 2013 and acting as its CEO until 2017, he was the Global Head of Infectious Diseases R&D at Sanofi. He previously co-founded Nabriva Therapeutics in 2006 as a spin-out from Novartis, operating as Chief Operating Officer following his role as Vice-Head of the Antibiotic Research Institute. At CRISPR Therapeutics, Novak guided the firm through a 2016 NASDAQ IPO, raised over $400 million, and secured a $600 million joint venture with Bayer alongside a multi-billion dollar partnership with Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Drawing on his medical degree and academic tenure at the Vienna Biocenter, his current focus centers on advancing biotechnology ventures specializing in gene editing technologies.
