Ryan Bethencourt

Ryan Bethencourt is a Partner at BABEL Ventures, an early-stage consumer biotechnology venture capital firm based in Silicon Valley. He previously co-founded IndieBio, a prominent biology accelerator and seed fund where he funded and built more than 70 biotechnology companies with a combined market value exceeding $3 billion. Before his venture capital career, he served as the head of life sciences at the XPRIZE Foundation and spent a decade working in human therapeutics at major pharmaceutical corporations including Pfizer, Merck, and Genentech. As an angel investor and venture capitalist, he has backed over 110 early-stage startups and served as the CEO of the plant-based pet food company Wild Earth. Holding degrees from the University of Warwick, Cambridge University, and MIT, Bethencourt focuses his current investments on consumer biotechnology, biological computation, and sustainable food systems.
