Samit Kalra is a Partner at 1984 Ventures based in San Francisco, California, where he invests in seed and pre-seed stage technology startups across North America. Before joining the firm in early 2023, he served as an investor at Hardware Club and held finance and operations roles at Bessemer Venture Partners. At 1984 Ventures, which manages over $100 million in assets under management, Kalra has built a portfolio of more than 20 companies, including Memfault and Hadrian. He recently led the firm's participation in a $100 million Series B funding round for the defense technology company Saronic in 2025 and co-authored "The Hardware Playbook" in 2024. The University of Pennsylvania graduate currently focuses his investment strategy on backing early-stage founders operating at the intersection of hardware, deep tech, artificial intelligence, robotics, and enterprise software.
