Sean Brownlee

Sean Brownlee is a Partner at BDC Venture Capital and a General Partner at Rho Ventures based in Montreal, Quebec. Since assuming his dual partnership roles in January 2012, he has directed early-stage equity investments across the broader Canadian technology ecosystem. At BDC Venture Capital, which operates as Canada's largest venture firm with over $6 billion CAD in assets under management, his portfolio exposure includes major technology enterprises such as Clio, Hopper, and Coveo. The firm recently expanded its institutional capital deployment strategy by launching a $500 million CAD Thrive Venture Fund for women-led businesses and participating in an $80 million Series B funding round for Conquest Planning in June 2025. Brownlee currently focuses his professional efforts on structuring direct equity investments to support the scaling of emerging software, deep technology, and healthcare startups.
