Shawn Xu

Shawn Xu is a Partner at Lowercarbon Capital based in San Francisco, California, where he focuses on early-stage climate technology investments. Prior to this role, he served as a Partner at On Deck's venture fund and accelerator, backing approximately 50 companies across more than 20 countries and achieving a founder net promoter score of 100. His earlier venture capital experience includes roles on the investing teams at Floodgate and First Round Capital’s Dorm Room Fund. Before entering venture capital, Xu led international expansion as an executive at Square and served as a technology policy advisor to California Governor Gavin Newsom. He holds an MBA and an MA in International Affairs from the Wharton School, alongside an undergraduate degree from UC San Diego. Xu leverages his diverse operating and policy background to support early-stage climate tech founders.
