Simon Willnauer

Simon Willnauer is a Founder and the Elasticsearch Tech Lead at Elastic. He co-founded the enterprise data search company in 2010 and subsequently led its core software development operations for over five years. Prior to establishing Elastic, Willnauer became a main developer for the search library Apache Lucene in 2006, eventually serving as a Project Management Committee member and a recognized member of the Apache Software Foundation. Beyond his primary engineering and executive roles, he co-founded the Berlin Buzzwords conference, where he notably spoke in 2019 regarding the technical evolutions of both Elasticsearch and Lucene. Additionally, he is associated with the messaging engine RocketMQ and maintains a profile as a technology investor on the financial data platform Dealroom.co. Willnauer currently focuses on advancing open-source search engine infrastructure, optimizing scalability, and engineering complex big data technologies.
