Steve Lau

Steve Lau is the Managing Partner at WorldQuant Ventures and the Chief Executive Officer of WorldQuant Foundry. He began his financial career working as an options specialist and market maker at Spear Leeds and Kellogg, a major trading firm that was ultimately acquired by Goldman Sachs in 1999. Since 2014, Lau has helped direct capital into more than 90 early-stage startups, building a diverse venture portfolio that includes prominent technology companies such as Dataminr, IonQ, Immuta, Skyroot, and Verge Genomics. In addition to his primary venture capital responsibilities, he serves as a board member for WorldQuant Predictive, a quantitative prediction platform associated with founder Igor Tulchinsky. His current investment focus centers on funding and supporting founders who are developing emerging technologies across artificial intelligence, machine learning, quantum computing, healthcare IT, financial technology, and space.
