Steve Schoettler

Steve Schoettler is the Managing Partner at Long Journey Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University and began his career as a software engineer at TellApart, which was later acquired by Twitter. Transitioning to venture capital, Schoettler previously served as an investor at Initialized Capital and Formation 8, building a portfolio of over twenty companies that includes notable exits such as Cruise. At Long Journey Ventures, he manages more than $100 million in assets under management, recently leading a 2025 seed investment in the artificial intelligence infrastructure startup VectorShift while also joining YC Continuity as an advisor. His current investment focus centers on backing pre-seed and Series A founders developing software, artificial intelligence, and enterprise technologies across North America and Europe.
