Steve Shuttleworth

Steve Shuttleworth is a Venture Partner at Samsara BioCapital based in the San Francisco Bay Area. He joined the firm in 2023 after serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Jnana Therapeutics, which he led through a $100 million Series B funding round before its 2024 acquisition by Merck for $45 million upfront plus milestones. Previously, he held executive and research leadership positions at Relay Therapeutics, Nimbus Therapeutics, and Merck Research Laboratories, contributing to multiple clinical-stage programs. Shuttleworth completed his postdoctoral research at Harvard University after earning a doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Cambridge. As an investor, he recently participated in funding rounds such as Odyssey Therapeutics' $50 million Series A. His current focus centers on early-stage biotechnology investments, specifically targeting small molecule drug discovery and therapeutics for oncology, immunology, and metabolic diseases.
