Steven Cohen is the Greenwich-based Chairman and CEO of Point72, a global multi-strategy asset management firm with over 1,800 employees, and the sole backer of Point72 Ventures. He previously founded SAC Capital Advisors in 1992, which he later converted into a family office before transitioning Point72 into a registered investment advisor in 2018. Leveraging over thirty years of public market experience, his venture strategy focuses on early-stage artificial intelligence, enterprise software, and financial technology platforms. Through Point72 Ventures, he has backed more than 130 companies since 2016, recently selling several fintech stakes to a 280 million dollar continuation fund supported by Goldman Sachs Alternatives. Beyond his core asset management businesses, Cohen acquired the New York Mets baseball team for more than two billion dollars in 2020 and co-invested alongside Citadel into Melvin Capital in 2021.
