Subrata Mitra is a Partner at Accel based in Bangalore, India, where he leads early-stage investments across the artificial intelligence, consumer, and financial technology sectors. He joined the firm in 2008 after co-founding Erasmic Venture Fund, which subsequently rebranded to launch Accel's operations in the Indian market. Throughout his four-decade career, Mitra has backed several prominent technology companies, including Flipkart, Myntra, and Curefit, earning him the 38th position on the 2023 Forbes Midas List of top venture capital investors. Prior to his transition into venture capital, he served as the Managing Director of India operations at Tavant Technologies and founded Firewhite, a startup that was later acquired by Ubiquio. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Mitra currently focuses on identifying and scaling emerging early-stage technology enterprises within the Indian ecosystem.
