Sujal Patel is the co-founder and CEO of Nautilus Biotechnology, a life sciences company developing a platform for high-throughput proteome analysis. Previously, he founded Isilon Systems in 2001, scaling the storage enterprise through a 2006 initial public offering and its subsequent $2.6 billion acquisition by EMC in 2010. Following the transaction, Patel served as President of EMC’s Isilon Storage Division until 2012, building on his earlier technical experience as chief architect at RealNetworks. At Nautilus, he has secured approximately $108 million in funding from prominent investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Madrona Venture Group, and Bezos Expeditions. A 1996 University of Maryland College Park graduate with 24 total patents, he also holds board positions at Qumulo and Rainier Scholars. Patel leverages his extensive engineering background to successfully transition from enterprise data infrastructure to advancing biotechnology and proteomics.
