Susanna Campbell is the Provost Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Policy and Global Security at American University and Director of the Research on International Policy Implementation Lab in Washington, DC. She previously served as a 2023 Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and conducts mixed-method research across six conflict-affected countries, including Sudan, Nepal, and East Timor. Her academic work is supported by major research grants from the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the US National Science Foundation. In 2021, she received the Outstanding Contribution to Fostering Collaborative Scholarship award for her ongoing efforts to translate academic findings into actionable strategies for the United Nations and several non-governmental organizations. Campbell's current research focuses on the intersection of global governance, international aid, and peacebuilding to improve policy implementation in fragile states.
