Tanooj Luthra is a Member of Technical Staff working on ChatGPT at OpenAI, based between San Francisco and New York City. Before joining OpenAI in 2026, he served as the Cofounder and Chief Technology Officer at Nerve from 2024 to 2026. Previously, Luthra spent four years as a Senior Engineering Manager for the banking division at Brex between 2019 and 2023, and he was the Cofounder and CTO of the Y Combinator-backed startup Elph from 2018 to 2019. His earlier career includes technical leadership positions as a Staff Engineer focused on crypto at Coinbase from 2017 to 2018, as a Staff Engineer for desktop applications at Box from 2014 to 2017, and an initial role at Streem.
