Tarek Assaad is the Managing Partner at Algebra Ventures, a venture capital firm based in Cairo, Egypt. In this role, he oversees a $100 million fund dedicated to technology startups across the Middle East and North Africa, building upon the firm's $54 million first fund that backed 21 companies. Previously, Assaad served as Managing Partner at Ideavelopers, where he managed $50 million in venture investments and led the firm's early backing of Fawry, which later became Egypt's first venture-backed unicorn. Before entering venture capital in 2009, he worked as an engineer at Lucent Technologies and a software developer at SAQQARA Systems in Silicon Valley. He holds an engineering degree from Ain Shams University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Assaad currently focuses on deploying institutional capital to scale early-stage technology enterprises throughout the MENA region.
