Tawanda Mahachi

Tawanda Mahachi is a Principal at Anzu Partners, a Washington DC based investment firm that is focused on industrial and life science technology. Prior to joining this venture capital firm, he served as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company, advising corporate clients on strategic growth, mergers and acquisitions, and operational transformations across advanced materials sectors. He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, where his research targeted the development of novel thermoelectric materials for energy conversion applications. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, graduating with first class honors in 2012 alongside multiple academic distinctions. His current focus centers on sourcing, evaluating, and supporting early stage deep tech investments that bridge the gap between complex scientific research and commercial industrial applications.
