Thomas Martens

Thomas Martens is the Industry Venture Director at Hiro Capital and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gecco Enterprises, a holding company dedicated to sports and digital gaming acquisitions. Over a 28-year career, he has executed more than 20 capital raises and corporate transactions across the sports licensing, sports betting, and mobile gaming sectors. Previously, he built the international football division at UFA Sports, which later became Lagardère Sports, before founding Global Sportnet, where he served as Chief Executive Officer for 13 years. Under his executive leadership, Global Sportnet scaled its operations and was ultimately acquired by Apax Partners and WPP Group. He also co-founded and chaired Iconicfuture, further expanding his operational footprint in the digital entertainment industry. Martens currently focuses his investment strategies on digital sports, esports, and gaming opportunities, particularly within the DACH region.
