Toby Coppel

Toby Coppel is the Managing Partner at Entrepreneur First, an early-stage venture capital firm based in London, England. Under his leadership, the firm manages over $700 million in assets and has backed more than 700 companies that have collectively raised $3 billion in follow-on funding. He recently oversaw the launch of a $178 million fund for pre-idea founders and has supported portfolio companies that achieved notable exits, including Gyld's acquisition by Wise. Before joining Entrepreneur First, Coppel worked as a Principal at Balderton Capital, focusing on consumer internet and digital marketplace investments. He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Harvard Business School and a Master of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford. His current investment focus centers on talent-led, early-stage technology startups operating across artificial intelligence, financial technology, and climate innovation.
