Tom Groos

Tom Groos is a Partner at City Light Capital, an early-stage venture capital firm managing over $200 million in assets, and is currently based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Prior to his career in venture capital, he served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Viking Group, a global manufacturer of fire protection systems. Under his executive leadership, the manufacturing enterprise expanded its international footprint across multiple continents and significantly increased its annual revenue before he transitioned to investment management. Groos also serves as the Chairman of Tyden Ventures, directing private equity allocations for the family office, and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame. His current focus centers on directing capital toward early-stage technology startups that deliver measurable social impact in education, safety, and environmental sustainability alongside financial returns.
