Tom Spahn

Tom Spahn is the Managing Partner at The Board Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in Kansas City, Missouri. He previously served as Managing Director at the Capital Innovators accelerator and holds an MBA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Spahn has invested in more than 50 startups, with portfolio companies achieving notable exits through acquisitions by major technology corporations including Salesforce and Oracle. In addition to his primary investment activities, he joined the Techstars Kansas City program as an advisor in March 2024 and led a 2025 seed investment in the cybersecurity startup CypherGuard. He also contributes industry insights, publishing a January 2024 op-ed in Forbes. His current professional focus remains on providing capital and operational strategy to seed and Series A companies operating within the SaaS, fintech, and enterprise software sectors.
