Tom Wehmeier

Tom Wehmeier is a Partner at Atomico based in London, UK, where he leads early-stage venture capital investments ranging from the Seed to Series B stages. Before joining the firm in 2021, he spent five years working as a Principal at Balderton Capital and held earlier professional roles at Oxford University Innovation. He holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. Over his decade-long venture capital career, Wehmeier has backed more than 20 companies, including notable strategic investments in Monzo and Karakuri. Recently, he led Atomico's participation in a $180 million Series C funding round for the artificial intelligence startup Synthesia in 2024. His current investment focus centers on partnering with founders who are developing enterprise software, financial technology, and climate tech companies across Europe and the United States.
