Travis VanderZanden is an American entrepreneur and the founder of Bird based in Miami, Florida, who is currently pursuing new ventures after stepping down from the company's board in June 2023. Before launching the micromobility startup, he served as the Chief Operating Officer at Lyft and the Vice President of International Growth at Uber. Under his leadership, Bird raised $415 million in venture funding, expanded its scooter-sharing operations to 120 global cities, and facilitated more than 10 million rides by 2019. The company went public on the New York Stock Exchange in November 2021, but was subsequently delisted in September 2023 with a $7 million market capitalization before being acquired by Third Lane Mobility in 2024. His career remains defined by a decade-long focus on transportation innovation and scaling alternative mobility platforms to reduce urban car dependency.
