Tullie Murrell

Tullie Murrell is the CEO and co-founder of Shaped, an artificial intelligence personalization and retrieval engine startup based in New York, New York. Before establishing the Y Combinator-backed company in 2021, which now employs 25 people, he spent five years as an AI researcher at Facebook AI Research. While there, his work primarily concentrated on machine learning, generative AI, and video representation learning technologies. Earlier in his career, Murrell created PyTorchVideo, served as an original core contributor to PyTorch Lightning, and held technical positions at Palantir, Google, and Uber. He studied computer science at the University of Adelaide and recently directed the launch of ShapedQL, a specialized language designed for agents, feeds, and search applications. His current focus centers on advancing machine learning infrastructure, retrieval-augmented generation, and real-time recommendation systems for enterprise platforms.
