Upal Basu

Upal Basu is a General Partner and Managing Member at NGP Capital based in Palo Alto, California. Since joining the firm in 2008, he has led the United States investment team and the global Connected Enterprise practice, managing a portfolio including Zinier, Observe.ai, Security Scorecard, and the publicly traded Kaltura. Before his venture capital career, Basu was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mformation Technologies, which was later acquired by Alcatel-Lucent. His earlier experience includes roles as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company and a Product Manager at Risk Management Solutions, alongside an MBA from Harvard Business School and engineering degrees from Stanford University and Imperial College London. With over 20 years of industry experience, his current investment focus centers on growth-stage software technology, mobile enterprise solutions, and the Internet of Things.
