Varun Tandon

Varun Tandon is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Waypoint Transit, a technology startup focused on building modern transportation infrastructure. He previously earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stanford University. Prior to launching his own company, Tandon worked as a machine learning engineer at Microsoft, where he led applied artificial intelligence research initiatives. During his corporate tenure, he specialized in developing diffusion models, multimodal systems, and large language models that were integrated into flagship enterprise software products. His specific technical contributions directly supported the deployment of new artificial intelligence features across Copilot, Designer, and PowerPoint, successfully reaching millions of global enterprise and consumer users. Tandon currently leverages his deep technical expertise in shipping scalable machine learning products to modernize complex transit systems and transportation technology.
