Vijay Karunamurthy

Vijay Karunamurthy is the Field Chief Technology Officer at Scale AI, based in San Francisco, California. Before joining Scale AI in 2023, he served as a Director of Engineering at Apple from 2017 to 2022 and currently operates as a scout for Sequoia Capital. His prior entrepreneurial experience includes co-founding Nom Labs, where he was Chief Executive Officer from 2014 to 2017, and AVOS Systems, a machine learning startup backed by Google Ventures, where he was Chief Technology Officer from 2010 to 2014. Earlier in his 29-year career, he spent four years as the Head of Search and Discovery Engineering at Google and YouTube, leading machine learning initiatives and the platform's initial iPhone launch. Karunamurthy currently focuses on the deployment of generative artificial intelligence, large language models, and scalable machine learning systems for enterprise applications.
