Vlad Ionescu

Vlad Ionescu is a General Partner at Earlybird Venture Capital based in Berlin, Germany, where he directs early-stage technology investments across the European market. Prior to assuming this role in January 2023, he spent six years as a Partner at Point Nine Capital and previously held positions at Rocket Internet. Over his venture capital career, Ionescu has executed more than 20 investments spanning the Seed and Series A stages, building a portfolio that includes software enterprises like the unicorn startup Personio. He recently led a 2024 funding round for the artificial intelligence company DeepL and published an industry thesis on European software scaling in March 2025. Drawing on his background in business administration, his current investment focus remains concentrated on identifying and funding emerging companies within the artificial intelligence, developer tools, financial technology, and marketplace sectors.
