Wal Van Lierop

Wal van Lierop is a Part-time Founding Partner at Chrysalix Venture Capital, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Since establishing the firm in 2001, he has helped raise over $350 million for Chrysalix and participated in more than $3.5 billion in venture funding across 84 investments and 12 exits. He currently focuses on managing the legacy portfolios of Chrysalix II and III while serving on the boards of portfolio companies including General Fusion and GaN Systems. Previously, van Lierop served as Vice President of Strategy for a major energy firm and spent over seven years advising financial clients at McKinsey & Company. He holds a doctorate in economics and completed additional probability modeling and change management coursework at MIT. His career centers on advancing industrial innovation, sustainability, and the global energy transition through targeted cleantech investments.
