Walter Kortschak

Walter Kortschak is a veteran private investor focusing on pre-seed and seed-stage technology companies, currently serving as Chairman Emeritus and Founding Investor at SignalFire. He previously spent over two decades at Summit Partners, joining in 1989 and serving as a Managing Director until 2010, where he invested in more than thirty companies and saw fifteen complete initial public offerings. Before his extensive tenure in growth equity, he worked as a Vice President at Crosspoint Venture Partners and backed notable early hardware and software firms such as McAfee and Finisar. Kortschak holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Caltech, where he sits on the Board of Trustees, and earned an MBA in Finance from UCLA Anderson. His current investment strategy primarily targets startups developing artificial intelligence infrastructure, open source technology, cybersecurity, blockchain infrastructure, and vertical SaaS solutions.
