Yaw Bediako is the CEO of Yemaachi Biotech, an immunogenomics and precision oncology company based in Accra, Ghana. He holds a PhD in immunology from Northwestern University and completed post-doctoral training before becoming one of five inaugural Crick Africa Network Fellows. Under his leadership, Yemaachi Biotech partnered with Roche to launch the African Cancer Atlas in 2025, an initiative designed to sequence 15,000 genomes from 7,500 African cancer patients. Additionally, Bediako helped secure a $25 million Cancer Grand Challenges award for the SAMBAI consortium to advance oncology research across diverse populations. Recognized as a Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst, he previously served as an affiliate member of the African Academy of Sciences. His current focus centers on leveraging African genetic diversity to discover novel cancer biomarkers and build a sustainable research ecosystem in sub-Saharan Africa.
