Yossi Matias is the Managing Partner at NFDG Ventures and a Venture Partner at Tenacious Ventures, based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Prior to his current investment roles, he served as Vice President of Engineering at Google Cloud, where he directed artificial intelligence infrastructure and the development of TensorFlow, an open-source machine learning framework with billions of downloads. Under his leadership in 2022, the cloud division's AI platform expanded to serve millions of enterprise users globally. Earlier in his career, Matias co-founded and acted as Chief Technology Officer of SigmaTel before its acquisition by Freescale, and he earned a PhD in Computer Science from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology. He now leverages his extensive engineering background to focus on early-stage investments across AI infrastructure, data analytics, and enterprise software, having already backed over 20 startup companies.
