Yujian Yao

Yujian Yao is a software engineer based in Singapore with a specialized background in developing scalable technology infrastructure for high-growth startups. He previously served as an early software engineer at Asana, where he contributed to the foundational systems of the widely used work management platform. Later, Yao transitioned to work as a staff engineer at Retool, taking on a critical technical leadership role within the organization. During his tenure at the enterprise software company, he successfully rebuilt the core runtime architecture that currently powers every single application created on the platform. Prior to his professional engineering career, he demonstrated early technical proficiency by winning a gold medal at the National Olympiad in Informatics in Singapore. Today, Yao maintains a primary focus on advancing complex software engineering, optimizing startup infrastructure, and building highly scalable backend systems.
