Zachary Sims

Zachary Sims is the Managing Partner at Exponent Founders, an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California. Prior to his career in venture capital, he studied computer science at Stanford University and worked as a software engineer at Stripe from 2015 to 2018. Since transitioning to investing, Sims has built a portfolio of over 50 investments, including notable companies such as Figma and Amplitude, which completed its initial public offering in 2021. He recently led a seed investment in Retool in 2023 and spoke at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in October 2024. In February 2025, he launched a new AI-focused fund at Exponent Founders. Ultimately, his current focus bridges his technical engineering background with an investment strategy targeting seed and pre-seed startups across the SaaS, artificial intelligence, developer tools, and fintech sectors.
