Jan Oboril

Jan Oboril is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist at Yoneda Labs, an artificial intelligence and chemical manufacturing startup based in San Francisco, California. He previously studied chemistry and biology at the University of Cambridge and conducted chemical research at Bayer and various research institutes in Europe. His early technical achievements include winning three gold medals at the International Chemistry Olympiad and independently designing a commercial machine learning model for cell segmentation. At Yoneda Labs, Oboril oversees all chemistry research, helping the Y Combinator-backed company secure a $4 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures in 2024. This capital supports the construction of a robotics laboratory capable of executing 200 daily experiments to train foundational models. Oboril currently focuses on bridging academic chemistry research with scalable machine learning models to optimize pharmaceutical processes and accelerate drug development.
