Patrick Fay

Patrick Fay is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Magnetic, an artificial intelligence tax preparation startup based in San Francisco, California. Founded in 2024 and selected for the Y Combinator Summer 2025 batch, Magnetic develops vision-language models to automate data entry for CPA firms processing thousands of tax returns. Prior to launching Magnetic alongside Thomas Shelley, Fay served as the first engineer at FunCraft, where he shipped 14 games over four years, including two multi-million dollar titles. He previously led multiple engineering teams at Zynga, managing scalable architecture for products utilized by millions of users. Outside of his engineering roles, Fay achieved a number one ranking in the competitive video game DotA Underlords Duos. His current focus centers on leveraging artificial intelligence and scalable software architecture to build automation tools for the tax technology sector.
