Thomas Shelley

Thomas Shelley is the Co-Founder and CEO of Magnetic, an artificial intelligence tax preparation software startup based in San Francisco, California. Before establishing the company in 2024 alongside co-founder Patrick Fay, he served as Head of Product at Keeper, a venture-backed tax filing platform. At Keeper, he integrated OpenAI large language models to design tax engine automation and optical character recognition scanning that successfully processed tens of thousands of consumer tax returns. Earlier in his career, Shelley managed product development teams at major gaming companies including Niantic and Zynga, and he previously dropped out of Carnegie Mellon University to build a digital item marketplace. His current focus centers on building AI tools that automate complex data entry from challenging tax documents, such as handwritten notes and K-1 forms, for certified public accountants.
